Great missions last night and I'm really loving the big turnout!

ya, I joined TS for some SB Pro PE action, and saw the numbers in ArmA2, was quite impressed... great job for Tao and Adlabs... I'd be int rested to know how the game play discipline is with so many, 1 TS channel seems like it wouldn't work anymore like it did with our 8 to 12 co-op group.

We used the ARMA group channel and only squad leaders used TS. Do you not do ARMA online anymore, Magnum?

No, I didn't really like the group getting so big, the add-on's getting so big, nor the missions direction... I'm a old school classic squad size co-op player. But that's just me, i see the appeal, and always hope for the best for this group.

Ironically, there have been plenty of times after you pretty much gave up that we've had 10 or fewer playing. That of course led to the mods getting bigger since there were fewer people to worry about getting all the mods right.

Speaking of, some of us had a good laugh the other night when some were having mod issues, trading a few "Mag would be SOOO pissed" comments. smile

The attendance was pretty stagnant in the 8-10 range until we made the switch over to ACE 2.

Oh I'm not bad mouthing it... its a testament to the plan and idea, just saying those large groups and mods aren't for me. I liked those old days of small team co-op with missions like clearing towns, blowing up towers. wink

I still love blowing up towers. biggrin

We actually blew up a very LARGE tower in the campaign mission last night. All around very nice gameplay. I was happy to see good team work most of the time, too. Just a time or two I spotted a straggler from my team, but they'll learn when they find themselves taking fire and too far from the team for support. wink

One time my fire team was doing it right was when that M-113 reappeared and was charging us. I gave a frantic call for "AT! Up Up Up!" while running and drawing it's fire, and IcePick was right there with the AT4 to finish off the threat and save the day.

This thread is dead so I am probably wasting my time here. But I'd like to say to anyone still out there that this was the FIRST time I every really enjoyed ARMA. I've played both the Takistan and Chenarus campaigns and they were OK, certainly visually impressive coming, as I do, from the flight sim world. But gameplay was mostly...meh. Last night was simultaneously exciting and controlled. Even in the first mission that ended quickly when both A-10s were taken out, comm discipline was maintained pretty well. And when it wasn't the comments were atmospheric, much like AI comments--but better. As I noob, I was lost but never completely lost. I just kept a respectful distance from my team leader and did what he said. And it never really seemed overpopulated. Tao and the other experienced players kept it tight. I found it immersive as hell. As long as everyone makes the briefing, 18-20 players of varying capabilities can still make a good co-op.

As long as you don't end up with me as your squad leader. Then misery ensues but at least your widow gets a ham.

I was probably the straggler there Adlabs! Sorry if I made any faux pas'!

I'm definitely planning to get on this as a regular thing, so if anybody sees me making any stupid mistakes I won't take any offence being called out on them! A large amount of the time I felt like I was following the fight but I slowly started to wrap my head around the way things unfolded.

My highlight was being pinned down by arty in a building with TankerWade, barely able to hear him over the explosions, just able to make out "ARE YOU HAVING FUN?" Hell yeah I was! Sadly we both died shortly after when the compound was raided. Looking back however I realise that I was stacked up behind him on the wall, and therefore unable to provide many effective shots. If I was on the other side I could have provided more suppressing fire, but these are the kinds of things I need to work on!

Are SS and MM the two regular days or are there any other games on frequently?

Smokin,

Might I recommend the Shactac HUD to download. This tool is simple yet exceptional in what it does. It shows the whereabouts of the people in your squad and their location. I feel naked without it as I sometimes lose the location of my squad. Also comes with a compass to quickly call out direction instead of having to pull up the ARMA one. Check out the link below.
