How do you deploy the troops from the chopper?
I have been having to auto pilot to get the troops to deploy so I could complete the mission. Is there a key to get them out of the chopper?

That's the only way I know how.

To leave it on autopilot and let it land on its own and the troops can get out.

At least now you have control of a Blackhawk or a MI-24.

Before all these MODS, playing EECH in factory original, you couldn't fly the Blackhawk or a MI-24.

The first time I tried an insertion mission I crashed - after leaving it on autopilot, and thinking that the brief pause on the ground was too short and maybe it hadn't done it and going back and trying to land manually, discovering that landing the Hind took more skill than I could manage at the time and then realising too late from the on-screen messages that it had in fact already worked and I had now busted a ship for no reason at all.

But for flying it manually, I'd guess that once landed maybe you need to hit Alt-D to open the cabin door if the deployment is not automatic. Probably. And Alt-D to close it again.

I did try to land a Blackhawk and MI-24 manually on an insertion mission, come to a complete stop with all wheels down on the ground and then open the doors.

But the soldiers didn't come out.

Then I thought maybe I was still too far from the X when I was only a couple of hundred meters away so I started taxing toward it and even when I was at almost 0 meter to the X,

and I came to a complete stop and I kept opening and closing the door, those idiots still didn't come out.

So I gave up trying to do it manually.

IIRC there's a really small area you have to stop at and wait for a little while before they get out, I think it's usually smack dab in the middle of X. But it's been a long time since I've done one so I don't exactly remember.

OK. I just did a insertion mission and landed within 30 meters of the x and the troops got out. I had to wait a little longer for the troops to get out of the other choppers, but then I got a mission complete.

I was landing on an insertion mission and unloading the troops.

While I was doing that, 2 Migs were taxing to position for take off on a CAP mission.

I took the base when they were still taxing.

They still continued to taxi and take off on their mission.

Shouldn't they be Blue and cancel their mission?

Is this even a bug?

Ideally, when a base is taken, all the air assets become yours but in this case since those 2 Migs were not sitting still and already assigned a mission, what is it supposed to do?

I had an insertion mission today where I dropped off the troops and I just took off to leave the area.

The mission was completed but the air base hasn't turned blue yet.

Here comes 2 KA-52s and they attacked us:

I didn't see them:

it's difficult to detect enemy choppers using a Blackhawk even with the HIDSS on, there are too many objects in my line of sight and you can't set it to filter things out and just concentrate on high priority targets.

They shot me down.

They shot my two wingmen down.

They also killed the infantry troops I just left.

The enemy air base didn't turn blue.

Well my FORMCOMP.DAT has apaches/kiowas and havocs/hinds/hokums added to the assault groups(only one per group tough), so they have a little defence, add them as the LAST aircraft of the group, otherwise they will try to unload troops, a task they will fail to achieve, except for the hinds.

I see the FORMCOMP.DAT in Common files and also in Campaign/Map 1, 2 and 3.

Which one of those helicopter assault groups in those files do I edit and do I edit all 4 FORMCOMP.DAT files?

I can't tell which one is an Insertion mission.

Well i only have one formcomp.dat in the general files section, delete the others so all missions use the same formcomp.dat (unless you want to have some specialized formcomp.dat for some reason).
You only need to edit the assault helicopter groups, since those are the ones used on the insertions, you do not need to edit anything else.

So if I delete the FORMCOMP.DAT in C:\Razorworks\common\maps\map2\campaign and C:\Razorworks\common\maps\map1\campaign in Map 1 and Map 2, it won't hurt it?

Which helicopter assault group do I edit?

Thanks!

These are the ones in the C:\Razorworks\common\data:

Oh! If I change the 4 to 6 or to a higher number, will there be 6 or more Choppers in one group?

Well i have not tested adding more than 4 helicopters, but in theory yes, i guess...
You need to edit the light and heavy assault groups, because unless you have edited also your gwut, the marine assault groups will not be used as "normal" assault groups (i tested that with my gwut, and the modified it accordingly).
