That’s a lot to look forward to! How about the Arma 2 content library? Will there be some form of backwards compatibility?

Originally, we had an idea that was similar to Take On Rearmed. Unfortunately, upgrading the Arma 2 massive content library to Arma 3 standards is beyond what we can do in reasonable time. So instead, what we are going to do will be similar to Arma 1: we are going to release the entire Arma 2 library to the community and allow them create any derivative work within Arma 3. More details will be announced very soon.

Well, that's the end of that discussion, gentlemen. Haters may quietly see themselves out. BI is a class act which has shown unprecedented generosity to their community, and this is an even more incredible.

Can't wait to get a hold of this stuff.

see, and people were complaining about the future setting... in 6 months you'll have tons of current stuff. wink

Now that's a company... a dying breed of great developers.

Sounds good. thumbsup

I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

Class act, though I don't understand what "and allow them create any derivative work within Arma 3." means. Will the Arma2 units work for Arma3, or do the community need to work on the units to make them compatible with Arma3?

I will ignore all ideas for new works and engines of war, the invention of which has reached its limits and for whose improvement I see no further hope.

This language usually means that any derivatives created from the content must only be functional within Arma3. In other words, don't make something completely unrelated to Arma with the released content.

But yes, I am sure than many things will need community work. Especially the units, being brought up to the new animations standards.

Oh this is good news. I don't mind the models of the soldiers so much, but I don't like the vehicles and weapons included with ARMA3 right now.

And this is one of the reasons I love BI.

Also, I need to learn how to mod so I can do dirty, dirty things that H-1 family.
