Hey there...hope someone can help.
I put a new video card in about 10 days ago. Everything worked great until yesterday. Now all of a sudden I get my screen going blank for a couple of seconds and then I get a message stating my display driver "kernel 3388" has stopped responding but has been restored. This started last night and is continuing tonite.
Happens about once every 15 minutes.
One thing that changed was last night the cable from the card to the monitor was loose and I was not getting any picture, so I did re-attach and tighten the cable connection to the card. Seems like the problem started right after I did that...but maybe not. It is a NVIDIA 475 graphics card.

Any ideas to fix this are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tracy

I seen workarounds where one can change the TDR value but I think your card is overheating causing the delay..

I would Download MSI afterburner or eVGA Precision and check your Tempatures of the card.. Also what driver version are you using??

If it started right after you reconnected the monitor cable, there are 2 possibilities.

One, ESD when you were wrangling the cable might have damaged the card. It's not likely, but it is possible. I've received some shocks from touching the exposed parts of a monitor cable in the past.

Two, the card got jostled in its slot. This could also be a dust accumulation thing, where the jostling moved dust in/into the fan and some fell/into the slot. It could be overheating, it could be a minor shorting issue.

Try opening the case and removing and reseating the card, and if you can blow out the fan, the card's contacts, and the slot before you reseat.

Thanks for the advice. I thought about the overheating issue too. But its weird it worked fine for so long. And I just updated the driver to the latest one for the nvidia 475 card so that should not be the problem.

Will get in there and clean everything out and maybe re-connect it and see what happens.

Thanks again,
Tracy

Well if the Heat issue checks out and if you get the card dusted and reseated and still run into the problem try this link:
