RIP

To make things even more poignant I just read that one of her sons committed suicide just last year. He was 17.

Very sad.

Sad news alright.

She never was the same after losing her son...

So sad and tragic. I remember watching live, when she ripped up the picture of the Pope, on SNL.
Losing her son that way, that is truly awful. RIP

Same here. That was back when SNL was actually funny and I watched it regularly. At the time I had zero clue what a controversial firestorm that incident was going to turn into.

It doesn't say it in the above link but I saw it posted on a news page she lost her battle with mental illness which is usually a euphemism for suicide

She was a very troubled person.

Agreed,

She was a bit of a terrior for sure.

Still to lose a child via suicide must be pretty tough.

Sad really.

Sinead O'Conner was always a very fragile soul to me.
Precious voice that she shared with us. Very sorry to hear of her passing. But not surprised.

Rest in Peace.

That song came out in 1990 so I assume you discovered it later?

Written by Prince. I think he made the right move having Sinead sing it.

Well, that song was also recorded by Chris Cornell and he hung himself, Prince OD'd (I'm assuming accidentally) I wouldn't touch that song as an Artist with a ten foot Boom Mic.

Yeah, the coincidence is rather creepy for sure. I still think about the passing of Prince from time to time. We lost a massive talent.

Yikes. Good observation. I personally like Chris Cornell's version the best.

She recorded the "Outlander" theme song for season 7, and ruined it IMO. The original was soft and melodious, her version harsh and halting.

I am sorry she had a troubled life and passed so young.

Celebrate her and listen to Mandika. What a song.

Mental health is something I've really come to realize how important.

A magnificent voice ...one of the best in modern times ...........but a supporter of the IRA and Palestinian terrorists and many other repugnant things. I could not listen to her without thinking of what she stood for .

I feel exactly the same way about Roger Waters.
