Guest Writer Björn “M@verick” Hagman has provided us with the first "Got Game?" reader review. See what Björn has to say about this not so typical shooter in his review here: http://www.simhq.com/_land/land_029a.html

If you don't know what "Got Game?" is, read 20mm's introduction here: http://www.simhq.com/_all/all_012a.html

That plane shown in the one pic looks an unholy hybrid of a MiG-29 and the MiG 1.44 prototype.

They should have just put a pic of the prototype in there.

Very good work M@verick, and a great way to start off our "Got Game?" feature. Thanks.

I really enjoyed FEAR as well. I wasn't always sure what the plot was about, but as you said it's a terrific action combat shooter. The AI, the graphics and the sound are what made it for me. Plus the weapons, very cool. Some of the effects are jaw-dropping, like blood droplets coming down through the ceiling and pooling on the floor, concrete dust in the air from impacting bullets, and much more.

I wished it had had some outdoor sequences. Being almost entirely in office and dingy apartment type settings was OK for a while, but alternating indoors/outdoors like Half Life 2 did would have been even better. Oh, and some vehicles too!

Lol, Magnum, I think that's going to be the case for most of these games, not many are going to be flight-based. I'd really like to see some sports and other genres reviews just to get an idea of what people are playing when they're not spooling up the engines on their Viper or MiG-29.

Remember, if you would like to write a review for the site, get in touch! See the link to my "Got Game" intro in guod's first post.

That's a good review pretty much nails it. FEAR has great challenging AI, addictive combat and a decent story. the only problem I have with it is the boring environments. I found myself desperate for a change of scene at times, around the middle of the game especially. Fortunately it picks up towards the end for a fantastic climax.

Monolith did a good job, FEAR is well worth shelling out the £££s for.

I'm looking forward to this review..but I'm not reading it until after I've bought it and played it.. \:D I just didn't want any surprises to be revealed..I sort of want it to be a 100% totally fresh experience. I'm doing the same thing with Half-Life 2..haven't played it yet..so I refuse to read anything about it.. :p

So..I'd like to say great review..but I haven't read it yet..but I *will* was soon as I play it. But if 20mm liked it..that's telling enough!

Great job..
