North American Aviation SNJ AT-6 Tail Lifting Bar Assembly WWII Aircraft:

This is a Special “Original” North American Aviation Tail Lifting Bar Assembly (p/n: 88-05002) for lifting the aft section (Tail Cone) of the AT-6, SNJ and Harvard Aircraft. The bar goes through the hole provided in the Tail Cone (see photos 3, 6 & 7). There are two special sliding inserts which slide onto the tube that go into the “lifting hole” in the tail cone from both sides. These sliding angled inserts have felt on them where they come in contact with the skin of the tail cone. There are two special sliding holders with a spring-loaded pin that slide onto the tube and snap into the pre-drilled holes in the tube to keep it from sliding out. Photo 3 shows lifting bar in a tail cone from one side. Photo 4 is cope of page 78 in the North American Aviation Special Tools & Handling Equipment Catalog showing the tool usage. Overall the tube is 38” long.
