Another user created utility that is essential to getting the most out of this package is the awesome ERJ-145 FlitePrep Suite v2.1 that is available for download from the feelThere web site. This brilliant little utility, written by Andy Hermano, runs in the background while you run Flight Simulator and allows you to configure the ERJ-145 and plan your fuel and load accordingly. The program interfaces with FS9 and FSUIPC to kick out real-time values and weights allowing you to instantly reference your flight speeds for takeoff and approach. You can also enter your departure and destination airfields, winds aloft, temperature and pressure and the program will give you estimated flight times, fuel burn, etc. Here I’ve entered the data for my flight from Portland to D.C.
The ERJ-145LR cuts a dashing figure on the ramp. The 3D modelers at feelThere put together a stunning model of the ERJ for FS9.
The throttle quadrant contains a gust lock, flap control, throttles, parking brake, takeoff configuration test, and engine thrust rating control buttons.
After looking around a bit I break out the tutorial and start the process of bringing the ERJ to life. Firing up the APU provides electrical power to complete the pre-departure checklists and properly configure the avionics and systems for flight. Once electrical power is available the modern flight deck illuminates giving a glimpse of the wealth of information available to the crew.
