Introduction

Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943Once again it is my pleasure to present an interview with Vladimir Zayarniy, CEO of Graviteam about a soon to be released armor title. In this interview I got the chance to talk with Vlad about Graviteam’s Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943, a historical wargame soon to be released to the western markets.

Before we start with the interview itself, take a look at the two videos below. The first is the announcement trailer for Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943.

The second video is an interview with Sergei Klimov, Producer for Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943.

Robert: My first question Vlad, why the name changed from Front Roads: Kharkov 1943 to Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943 for this release?

Vladimir: Our international publisher, Paradox Interactive, decided to change the title. I suppose the main reason was that “Achtung Panzer” sounds better.

Robert: Being Front Roads Kharkov 1943 was released to the Russian market in the last quarter of 2009, will Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943 have any game patches already installed?

Vladimir: Sure. All patches and updates published for the Russian version are included in Achtung Panzer.

Robert: Up to now we have seen only Russian demo of the game. Are there any differences between Russian and English release?

Vladimir: Russian demo was published in July 2009. Since that time we’ve worked hard to improve the game and now there are several updates available for the Russian version.

The complete list of improvements consists of more than 100 items. I’ll mention some of the most significant changes:

  • Interface improved (for both tactical and global modes).
  • Camera controls are extended.
  • Possibility to mount infantry units on the tanks and SPGs added.
  • New types of personnel units and vehicles added.
  • Military encyclopedia added.
  • Several bugs and errors fixed.

All these changes are already included in the European version of the game.

Robert: I also understand there will be a demo released. Is this true?

Vladimir: Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943 is scheduled for release on February 23. The demo will be available before the European release.

Robert: Can you elaborate on how we will be able to purchase Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943?

Vladimir: The game will be available via digital distribution. You can learn more here at the Paradox web site.
