Falcon 4.0: Allied Force – Part 2 Page 6

A flight of serious hurt is coming your way. Wingman, element and flight commands can be issued via context menus. An entire article could be written on wingman commands alone, but suffice it to say that learning to issue commands and keeping control of your flight is paramount to succeeding in an F4:AF mission.

The very cool thing about F4:AF is that you aren’t alone out there. As we’ve already seen, 63 other missions are taking place at the pretty much the same time, so you are always seeing and hearing the actions of other flights. In some cases, the action is in direct support of your flight. On our strike this morning we have two other dedicated flights that are supposed to give our strike a higher probability of success. The first is a Target Combat Air Patrol (TARCAP) flight that should clear out any enemy fighters that try to hassle us and the second is a Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) flight that should reach the target area prior to us and sanitize it of SAM threats long enough for us to complete our attack run. This integration with other flights is why reaching the target on time is so vitally important. They are doing their role so that we can do ours.

Here our SEAD flight starts the business of keeping the enemy gunners in their holes.

While the SEAD flight fires off their HARM missiles to keep the radars off our backs, we break off and start the low altitude portion of our attack run.

Unfortunately the TARCAP got drug off into a furball allowing this flight of MiG-21s into our midst, popping up from an airfield just off our flight path. “We went like this, he went like that…”
