Falcon 4.0: Allied Force – Part 2 Page 11

Airbases that are repaired no longer show the damage to the runways in either the RECON screens, or in the actual campaign, which is a big plus. My last install was FF2 + BMS.99 and even after the runways were listed as repaired they retained the damage characteristics. AI flights could depart and land, but human players would crash upon hitting the craters. This was a big one for me and I’m glad it is fixed. (I’ve been told it was fixed before F4:AF is that true?)

Speaking of airbases, yes there are some cool buildings on them. I just had to know if it was possible to taxi into the hangers, so I did it and yes you can. You can also taxi into the hardened aircraft shelters, but until someone invents thrust reversers for the Falcon you won’t be able to back yourself out once you are in!

Weather in the campaign is still not clear to me. There are different types of clouds, of that I’m sure. There are low stratus, high cirrus and mid range cumulus. I do not know yet if the clouds disperse, change altitudes, or track across the sky; I just haven’t had the time to check. In areas where the low stratus appears, it can be very difficult to do CCIP bombing runs because you won’t have time to visually ID your target and pull out of the dive in enough time. That should make things interesting. I’m also unsure of when and where the fog effect takes place during campaigns. Further testing will have to be done.

There are still some problems with unit path making and positioning. They will drive though some airfield buildings and once in awhile they will park themselves in odd places. Having artillery in the middle of the active runway is probably not approved by the SOF Officer.
