Conclusion
After playing the full release of Battlestations: Midway for the past several days, I have learned not to judge a game by what other people say of it. I know there will be different and varying opinions of this game, but I think for the most part that the developer put forth a product that is not only an enjoyable gameplay experience that can be played on most home systems. There are some technical issues to overcome, but that solely should not distract you from the actual gameplay itself. It must also be said that Battlestations Midway does strike a balance between action and strategy that makes it not just uniquely appealing, but somewhat challenging as well. The strategy aspect isn’t especially in-depth, but goals are reached and it is very satisfying when you see the “Victory” newspaper when it appears at the successful conclusion of a mission. The action simulation portion of the game is also kept very simple, which works in the game’s favor by making it easy to switch gears between the two different parts of the game with relative ease. The action sequence is also exciting enough to make it worth your while to jump into a battle, if only for a few minutes at a time to experience what this game is all about… fun! And even though the single player game is unfortunately way too short, the online multiplayer game is at least a small comfort to balance out the game.
